Q Cellar Wins Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

Quintessence Hotel is proud to announce that it has received the prestigious Wine Spectator 2018 Award of Excellence. The award recognizes establishments that share “a passion for exploring and sharing the world of wine.”

The 2018 award was bestowed upon our five-star restaurant, Julian’s, which features a state-of-the-art wine cellar handcrafted in a beautiful Tuscan style.

The Q Wine Cellar’s cedar shelves are stocked with selections from around the world collected over a lifetime by Quintessence Owner Geoffrey Fieger, and tended by Wine Director Albert Lake.

“This award shows our guests that our wine cellar has been deemed by experts to be among the best in the world,” says Fieger. “Having only been open less than a year, it is truly a remarkable accomplishment.”

According to Wine Spectator, its Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

The Q Hotel was recognized for its strength in Bordeaux and Burgundy, which pair perfectly with Chef Dominique Thevenet’s unique cuisine, a blend of traditional French techniques and local flavor.

The award can be found online and in the Aug. 31 issue of Wine Spectator, out now on newsstands.
